Macularsocietylearning.org is a site owned and operated by Perceptive on behalf of the Macular Society, the national charity for anyone affected by central vision loss.
Perceptive and the Macular Society are committed to respecting your privacy. In general, you can visit macularsocietylearning.org without revealing any information about yourself. Perceptive maintains the website and a database of all registered users. This stores your name, profession, GOC number (or other professional number), address, phone number and email address. We also store information regarding completion of content and continuing education and training (CET) points and certificates awarded. Registered users can access and edit this information via the “My Account” section of the website when logged in. When completing education on macularsocietylearning.org we require you to confirm or provide your name, profession, practice address, phone number, email address and GOC number (or other professional number). We use this information to process CET points and, if any questions should arise, to contact you about CET completions. All details are collected and transferred using secure methods.
Any information provided by you on this website may be shared with the Macular Society. Your information will not be shared with individual or other companies (such as direct mail organisations or other third parties) unconnected with the provision of Perceptive’s activities unless required by law or unless you have agreed to a particular request for information to be shared. However, in order to comply with the General Optical Council (GOC) enhanced CET Scheme, if you have told us you are registered with the GOC, every time you complete education on this website we will provide your GOC number and surname to the GOC. This information is used solely for the purposes of awarding CET points under the enhanced CET scheme. If you indicate you are a member of the Norges Optikerforbund or Sveriges Optikerforbundet we will pass your professional number and surname to the relevant professional body in Norway or Sweden when you complete education on this website.
There may be times when we may request additional information from you, for example when we conduct a survey. When additional information is requested, we will try to let you know at the time of collection how we intend to use it. We do our best to maintain the accuracy of any personal information you do supply to us. You can help Perceptive update and maintain the accuracy of any personal information you supply by using the “My Account” section of the website or by notifying us of any changes to your GOC Number, address, title, phone number or e-mail address.
